Duties Responsible for supporting relationship growth with
community-based organizations, institutions, and members of the
community by implementing communications strategies to inform,
listen and seek to understand varying perspectives. Represents
Metro throughout its service area and amongst the nearby
communities to enhance trust and transparency. Works under the
general direction of the Community Engagement Liaison. Examples of
Duties: Coordinate community engagement projects and events for
community members to exchange ideas to build awareness and support.
Serve as liaison between community engagement division and
engineering teams to ensure intentional interactions with the
public throughout capital infrastructure projects that impact the
community including the development of engagement plans. Conduct
regular community feedback; gather and analyze data and
perspectives to determine alignment with Metro strategic goals;
maintain records and prepare basic statistical information; prepare
related reports. Record community engagement activities with
tracking tools, engaging with GIS team to create service area
engagement tracking and dashboarding. Conduct stakeholder and
project research to inform program strategy, including developing
and managing tracking and reporting methods. Responsible for data
entry into Metro's customer relations management software, as
needed, to track Metro's work and relationships externally. Support
internal teams to evaluate their external engagement efforts on an
annual basis, assist with annual workshops. Participate in
discussions facilitated by external members of the community to
inform, listen, and seek to understand. Document program processes,
procedures, and resources. Perform other related work as required.
Qualifications: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of:
Exceptional writing and oral presentation skills How to effectively
lead online meetings utilizing Microsoft Teams General office
processes and procedures Basic project management principles
Microsoft office applications and SharePoint Skilled at:
Demonstrated experience building relationships and engaging
communities to achieve positive outcomes. Interacting with
community-based organizations, institutions, and members of the
community Efficient and effective customer service Event
coordination Obtaining community feedback, analyzing the data, and
preparing reports Delivering clear and concise written and verbal
communication, including public speaking; leveraging diverse modes
of communication/technology to optimize the effective exchange of
ideas and information Active and empathic listening skills
De-escalating conflict and negotiating win-win solutions
Prioritizing work and time management Ability to: Participate in
strategic community engagement plans and articulate tactics and
messages Create engaging relationships with community-based
organizations, institutions, and members of the community Perform
effectively in a collaborative team environment Work varying hours
based on community events Understand the details of complex issues
while communicating strategies and other important information to
the public Identify problems, craft effective solutions, act
decisively and demonstrate good judgement Maintain emotional
control under ambiguous and stressful circumstances Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or
university in business administration, communications, public
relations, social sciences, or a related field. Working Conditions:
Work Environment While performing the duties of the job, the
employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or
airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather
conditions; and risk of electrical shock less than 1/3 of the time.
The level of noise in the work environments is usually moderate.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of the job, the
employee is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel;
and talk or hear more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is
required to walk and reach with hands and arms 1/3 to 2/3 of the
time. The employee is required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch,
or crawl less than 1/3 of the time. The employee must lift and/or
move up to 10 pounds less than 1/3 of the time. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to
adjust focus. Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $62,566 - $87,298
